World Whiskies Conference 2006 Review
Delegates at the first World Whiskies Conference voted the event an outstanding success.
In a typical reaction one delegate told us “I think many were a little sceptical to begin with about the event but it turned out to be a fantastic two days. I certainly learned a lot. From conversations with other delegates they all spoke of its great success – we'll definitely see you there next year.”
The strength of the Conference proved to be the combination of venue, authoritative speakers and a lively delegate group, ready to participate and debate a range of topical issues.
Over 120 delegates from the USA, Japan, Canada, Italy, Germany, Sweden, India, Switzerland, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and the UK travelled to the Edinburgh International Conference Centre to hear a wide range of topics addressed by industry leaders. The Conference also attracted extensive media interest throughout the world,as well as comprehensive daily bulletins on leading industry web information provider just-drinks.com.
It’s clear that the World Whiskies Conference is fulfilling an important gap in the market. Chris Brook-Carter of just-drinks.com endorsed that when he told us: “I think you have filled an important gap in the drinks calendar – a very interesting couple of days, with excellent speakers and a great showing from the world's industry.”
International delegates praised the Conference. Frank Coleman, Senior Vice President, Public Affairs and Communications, the Distilled Spirits Council said: "The World Whiskies Conference is to be commended for bringing together an interesting and diverse group of industry leaders to discuss the critical issues we are facing, including the importance of actively promoting responsible consumption and rigorous, effective self-regulation.”
The final word comes from Conference Director Ian Buxton: “We have ambitious plans for the World Whiskies Conference 2007. We’d like to thank all our delegates, presenters and sponsors from this inaugural year and assure them that we’ll be back bigger, better and bolder for 2007.”
